What is FBR digital invoicing?

FBR digital invoicing (electronic invoicing) is the Federal Board of Revenue’s system for real-time reporting of sales tax invoices. Registered persons must generate each invoice electronically and transmit it to FBR’s system, which returns a unique FBR Invoice Number (IRN) and a QR code that appears on the printed invoice. It replaces manual, after-the-fact sales tax reporting with an invoice-by-invoice digital record.

How Iris Accounts handles it

You raise a sales invoice exactly as you normally would. Iris maps it to FBR’s digital-invoicing schema, sends it, and prints the returned IRN and QR on the PDF automatically. Goods carry federal GST; services carry the correct provincial services tax; further tax on unregistered buyers and withholding are calculated for you. You can test everything in FBR’s sandbox before going live in production.

Built for FBR compliance

Every reported invoice is stored with its IRN, QR and status, so your sales tax return reconciles directly from the ledger. Credit and debit notes are reported the same way. Because Iris keeps proper double-entry books behind each invoice, your FBR digital invoices, your sales tax register and your financial statements always tell the same story.

Who needs it

Any sales-tax-registered manufacturer, importer, wholesaler, distributor or service provider that FBR has notified for digital invoicing. If you sell taxable goods or services in Pakistan and need IRN-stamped invoices, Iris gives you a compliant, affordable way to do it without hiring a developer.

Frequently asked questions

Can I test FBR digital invoicing before going live?

Yes. Iris supports FBR’s sandbox environment so you can validate your setup, then switch to production when you are ready.

Does it handle sales tax, further tax and withholding?
