1Getting started & general

What is Iris Accounts?
Iris Accounts is FBR-ready cloud accounting and bookkeeping software built for businesses in Pakistan. It brings FBR digital invoicing, sales tax (GST) and withholding, double-entry bookkeeping, inventory, manufacturing, banking and financial reports together in one online platform priced in Pakistani Rupees.
Who is Iris Accounts for?
It suits retailers, wholesalers and distributors, traders, importers and exporters, manufacturers, and service businesses and professionals — as well as accountants and bookkeepers managing client books. Whether you are a sole proprietor, partnership (AOP) or private limited company, the modules adapt to your business.
Do I need to install any software?
No. Iris Accounts is fully cloud-based and runs in any modern web browser on desktop, laptop, tablet or mobile. There is nothing to download, install or update — you always have the latest version.
Do I need accounting knowledge to use Iris Accounts?
No. Everyday tasks like raising an invoice, recording a payment or entering a bill are simple, while proper double-entry bookkeeping happens automatically in the background so your books always balance.
Is Iris Accounts built specifically for Pakistan?
Yes. It is built around Pakistani tax compliance and priced in PKR, rather than being adapted from a foreign product — so FBR digital invoicing, GST, further tax and withholding work the way they are meant to locally.
What business structures does Iris Accounts support?
It supports sole proprietors, partnerships (AOP) and private limited companies. The chart of accounts and available modules adjust to the type and size of your business.
Can I use Iris Accounts on my mobile phone?
Yes. Because it runs in the browser, you can create invoices, record payments and check reports from a phone or tablet anywhere with an internet connection — there is no separate app to install.
Which languages are supported?
The interface is in English, and our team can assist you in both English and Urdu. This keeps the software familiar for staff while support stays easy in your preferred language.
How do I get started with Iris Accounts?
Sign up on the website, choose the annual package and complete a bank transfer with your payment reference. Your account is activated as soon as our team confirms payment, and you can start invoicing straight away.

2Pricing, subscription & payment

How much does Iris Accounts cost?
Iris Accounts is a simple annual subscription of Rs 25,000 per year. It is one flat yearly price for the full platform, with no hidden charges.
How do I pay for my subscription?
Payment is by bank transfer. After signing up you will see our bank account details — make the transfer, enter your transaction reference and submit it for confirmation.
Is the subscription monthly or annual?
The subscription is annual and covers a full year of access to every module. This keeps pricing predictable with a single yearly payment.
Are there any hidden or extra fees?
No. The Rs 25,000/year price includes the complete platform — invoicing, tax, inventory, manufacturing, banking and reports — with no per-module or hidden add-on fees.
How is my account activated after payment?
Once you submit your bank transfer reference, our team verifies the payment and activates your account. You are notified as soon as access is enabled.
What happens when my subscription expires?
You simply renew for another year by bank transfer to keep full access. Your company data remains in place so you can carry on where you left off.
Is there a per-invoice or per-transaction charge?
No. The annual plan gives you full use of the platform without charging per invoice or per transaction, so growing volumes do not increase your cost.
Who do I contact about billing or renewals?
For any billing, renewal or payment question, email [email protected] or reach us by phone or WhatsApp and our team will help.

3FBR Digital Invoicing (e-invoicing)

Does Iris Accounts support FBR digital invoicing (e-invoicing)?
Yes. Sales tax invoices can be reported to the FBR Digital Invoicing system and carry an official IRN and QR code, for both local and export (zero-rated) sales.
What is an IRN on an FBR invoice?
The IRN (Invoice Reference Number) is the unique identifier the FBR system issues when an invoice is reported. Iris Accounts stores the IRN against the invoice as proof it was digitally reported.
Does the invoice get an FBR QR code?
Yes. Once an invoice is reported, it carries the FBR QR code, which can be shown on the printed or PDF invoice so buyers can verify it.
Can I report invoices to FBR in bulk?
Yes. You can report a single invoice or submit invoices in bulk, which is useful for businesses that issue many sales tax invoices each day.
Does FBR e-invoicing work for export and zero-rated sales?
Yes. Export and other zero-rated sales carry 0% GST but are still reported to FBR, and Iris Accounts handles this automatically for foreign-currency and export invoices.
What happens if an FBR submission fails?
The invoice shows a clear "failed" status with the reason, so you can correct the issue and re-submit. Nothing is silently lost.
Do I need my own FBR credentials or token?
Live reporting uses your configured FBR token. When no live credentials are set, a simulation mode lets you test the full flow before going live.
Is there a sandbox to test FBR reporting first?
Yes. You can submit to the FBR sandbox environment to check your setup and invoice data before switching to live reporting.
Which invoices should be reported to FBR?
Sales tax invoices are reported to the FBR Digital Invoicing system. Iris Accounts keeps each invoice ready to report and tracks whether it has been sent.
Does Iris Accounts keep a record of reported invoices?
Yes. The IRN, QR code and reported date are stored against each invoice, giving you a complete, auditable record of what was reported and when.

4Sales tax, GST & further tax

What taxes does Iris Accounts handle?
It handles GST/sales tax, further tax for unregistered buyers, Federal Excise Duty (FED), provincial taxes, and income and sales withholding tax — all with date-effective rates.
How is GST / sales tax calculated on documents?
You apply tax rates per line and Iris Accounts calculates the tax automatically on invoices and bills, then posts it to the correct liability accounts.
What is further tax and when does it apply?
Further tax applies to taxable sales made to unregistered buyers in Pakistan. Iris Accounts adds it automatically based on the customer's registration status.
Does Iris Accounts support Federal Excise Duty (FED)?
Yes. FED can be applied where relevant and is calculated and posted alongside your other taxes.
Does it support provincial sales tax on services?
Yes. Provincial taxes are supported, so service businesses can apply the correct provincial sales tax on their invoices.
Are tax rates date-effective?
Yes. Rates are date-effective, which means historical documents keep the rate that applied on their date even after rates change — so your records stay accurate.
Can a single line carry more than one tax?
Yes. A line can carry multiple taxes at once, and Iris Accounts shows the breakdown and totals each tax to the right account.
Does Iris Accounts produce a sales tax register?
Yes. A sales tax register report summarises your output and input tax, including credit and debit notes and imports, to support your filing.
How are registered and unregistered customers handled?
You record each customer's registration type and NTN. This drives whether further tax applies and ensures the invoice reflects the correct tax treatment.

5Withholding tax (filer / non-filer)

Does Iris Accounts handle withholding tax?
Yes. It handles both income and sales withholding tax, calculated and recorded automatically on the relevant transactions.
Are separate filer and non-filer rates supported?
Yes. Iris Accounts supports separate filer and non-filer withholding rates, applying the correct one based on the party's status.
Can I withhold tax on supplier payments?
Yes. Withholding on purchases and payments is supported, with the withheld amount posted to the appropriate liability account.
Are withholding rates date-effective too?
Yes. Like other taxes, withholding rates are date-effective so past documents keep the rate that applied at the time.
Does it track withholding I need to deposit and report?
Yes. Withheld amounts accumulate in liability accounts and appear in your tax reports, so you know what is due to be deposited.
How does Iris Accounts know if a supplier is a filer?
You set each supplier's filer status on their record, and Iris Accounts applies the matching filer or non-filer rate automatically.
Can I produce withholding information for my returns?
Yes. Tax reports include withholding details, making it straightforward to prepare and reconcile your withholding statements.

6Invoicing & sales

How do I create a sales invoice?
Choose the customer, add item or free-text lines with quantities and prices, apply taxes, and post. The tax and totals are calculated for you and the invoice is booked to the ledger automatically.
Can I save an invoice as a draft?
Yes. You can save an invoice as a draft to finish later, then post it to the ledger when you are ready. Drafts do not affect your accounts until posted.
Can I edit an invoice after creating it?
You can edit an invoice while it is still a draft. Once an invoice is posted it is locked to protect the ledger, so corrections are made with a credit note instead.
Can I email invoices to my customers?
Yes. You can email an invoice directly to the customer, with the PDF attached, from within Iris Accounts.
Can I download an invoice as a PDF?
Yes. Every invoice can be downloaded as a professional PDF, including the FBR QR code once it has been reported.
Does it support sales orders and delivery notes?
Yes. You can raise sales orders and goods delivery notes (GDN), which flow through to invoicing and stock.
Can I issue credit notes and handle returns?
Yes. Credit notes let you handle sales returns and corrections, with the stock and ledger adjusted automatically.

7Purchases, bills & expenses

How do I record a supplier bill?
Select the vendor, add the lines and applicable taxes, and post the bill. It updates your payables and the ledger automatically.
Can I save a bill as a draft?
Yes. Bills can be saved as drafts and posted later, so you can enter them as documents arrive and finalise them when checked.
Does it support purchase orders and GRN?
Yes. You can raise purchase orders and record goods received notes (GRN), which connect to your bills and inventory.

Can I record payments made to suppliers?
Yes. You can record supplier payments against open bills, and Iris Accounts keeps the outstanding balances up to date.

8Inventory & stock

Does Iris Accounts manage inventory and stock?
Yes. It tracks stock in real time with quantities and values, and gives you stock and valuation reports for retail, distribution and manufacturing.
What inventory costing method is used?

Is Iris Accounts suitable for pharma and distribution?
Yes. Batch and expiry (FEFO) tracking and real-time stock valuation make it well suited to pharmaceutical, food and distribution businesses.

Can I track stock across multiple locations or branches?
Yes. Stock and other data can be scoped by location or branch, so you can see and control inventory per site.
Does it value my closing stock for the accounts?
Yes. Inventory valuation flows into the ledger, so your balance sheet and cost of sales reflect the correct stock value.
Can I make stock adjustments for wastage or corrections?
Yes. Stock adjustments let you correct quantities for wastage, damage or counts, with the ledger updated accordingly.

9Manufacturing & bill of materials

Does Iris Accounts support manufacturing?
Yes. It supports manufacturing with bills of material and manufacturing orders, so production is fully reflected in stock and the ledger.
What is a bill of materials (BOM)?
A BOM is the recipe of raw materials and quantities needed to make a finished product. You define it once and reuse it for every production run.
Can I run manufacturing orders?
Yes. A manufacturing order issues the raw materials, absorbs overheads and receives the finished goods into stock, all in one flow.
Are overheads absorbed into product cost?
Yes. You can add overheads to a manufacturing order so the finished-goods cost reflects more than just raw material cost.
Do raw materials deplete automatically during production?
Yes. Raw materials are consumed from stock when a manufacturing order (or compounded item) is posted, keeping inventory accurate.
Is the finished-goods cost calculated automatically?
Yes. The cost of raw materials and overheads flows into the finished-goods value in inventory and the ledger automatically.
Can I track batches of finished goods?
